TEENAGER PARTY (2022)

Documentary 17’

The film tells the story and cultural impact of the famous music programme called Teenager party, which was broadcasted  by Radio Free Europe (RFE) from München to young people living behind the Iron Curtain.
Young Hungarians requested different songs via letter, from disc-jockey László Cseke, often explaining with a personal story why these melodies were important to them. Listening to Western broadcasts were forbidden in principle, and because of postal censorship, letters were mostly sent by detour, signed with different made-up nicknames. The recording of the expected songs on tape was often made impossible by the interference of short-wave broadcasting.

Exhibited in Postal Museum, Budapest 12.10.2022-26.03.2023.
