MILLS OF FAUSTUS V.

intervention
Tihany, 2022

Tiny mills drift along the shore and float upon the water, propelled by the wind. These fragile constructions—spinning, grinding, and endlessly producing—allow themselves to be steered, yet resist complete control. By inverting conventional proportions and foregrounding movement, we sought to question humanity’s absurd presumption of superiority over nature. The wind–watermill hybrid, with its relentless accumulation of rotations, becomes an ironic commentary on the uncritical glorification of productivity, while simultaneously evoking the fragile balance of an ecosystem under threat.
The project was inspired by the diverse mill designs of Hungarian inventor Faustus Verancsics.
