OBSERVATORY GARDEN (2024)
installationInside classical weather instrument shelters an artificial storm rages: the sound of thun- derstorm is accompanied by lightning, wind and fog.
Our attention is drawn to the subjectivity of perception, since the inner mechanisms are fully detached from the outer world, just as we are often guided by our beliefs and expectations.
The desperate need to measure and understand fully such highly complex and chaotic systems like the weather reflects our visceral desire for order and security, while the aim for accurate prediction reveals humanity’s universal aspiration to foresee the future. However, the harder we try to influence factors beyond our control, the more we are confronted with unpredictability – and the stormier our inner world becomes.
