FORCE FIELD

Kinetic installation, 2026

The installation approaches the concept of control not as a clearly defined external constraint, but as an invisible mode of operation that permeates habitual movements and seemingly self-evident gestures, such as making a pass.

On a foosball table devoid of players, the absence of its familiar controlling elements becomes immediately apparent. Electromagnets embedded beneath the playing surface generate a programmed, continuously shifting magnetic field that unpredictably alters the movement of the ball. As the components that normally allow players to direct the game disappear, controllability itself becomes an illusion, while the collectively accepted rules and objectives of the match are called into question.

How would the game function without precise rules? What if we could no longer recognize who the opponent was – or even the referee? What if our team suddenly disappeared from the field, yet we failed to notice that the rules had changed at halftime? What if we realized that our choices do not arise solely from our own decisions, but are instead the resultant forces of a field that we can perceive only in part?

Within the field of possibilities outlined by these questions, the structure of the match is defined not by the predictable excitement of scoring points, but by deflection and a state of perpetual motion. The choreography that emerges unfolds according to principles that remain inaccessible even to the spectator.
